Holi Music and Dance Celebration 2025

The Department of Cultural Affairs (DCA) Performing Arts Division (PERF) is delighted to announce an open call for Musicians and Choreographers well-versed in Indian American culture, music and dance, to create and perform, cultural music and/or dance in the genres of traditional, contemporary, Bollywood, and/or experimental in an Earth Day celebration uniquely Indian.
DCA invites musicians and choreographers in the field of cultural arts who currently work or reside in Canoga Park, or the greater Los Angeles area, to apply for the opportunity to inspire, captivate, and surprise audiences.
We encourage those who identify as BIPOC, LGBTQIA2s+, and/or physically and neurologically challenged to apply.
PROGRAM DETAILS:
- Location: Lanark Park, 21816 Lanark St., Canoga Park, CA 91304.
- Date: Saturday, April 26, 2025
- Time: 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with a Festival of Color to follow (whole event ends at 8:00 p.m.)

- Monday, December 2, 2024 – Call for Applicants Opens
- Sunday, January 5, 2025 – Applications DUE
- Friday, January 17 – Sunday, February 2, 2025 – Review Panel Scoring
- Friday, February 7, 2025 – Commission Awardees Announced
- Wednesday, February 12, 2025 – Artist Project Introduction Meeting
- Saturday, April 26, 2025 – 2nd Annual Canoga Park Holi Music and Dance Celebration
- Wednesday, April 30, 2025 – DCA/Artists Project Debriefing Meeting at 5:30pm
FUNDING:
There will be eight $2,000 commissions awarded to each organization for the facilitation of one (1) performance set–no longer than fifteen (15) minutes, but no less than thirteen (13) minutes–of Indian American traditional and/or contemporary music or dance, plus one $3,000 commission awarded to a DJ experienced in mixing traditional Indian American music intertwined with current pop and/or electronica to facilitate opening, closing, and transitional music between acts from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
