ABOUT THE LANKERSHIM ARTS CENTER (LNK) SUMMER PERFORMING ARTS CAMP
In 2023 DCA|PERF started an initiative to counteract the residual impact of COVID-19 on the youth of Los Angeles by creating the first annual Summer Performing Arts Camp at the Lankershim Arts Center in North Hollywood. Through the performing arts—dance, music, theatre, set design, costume design, and technical theater skills—DCA invested in youth self-confidence by developing their performance and technical skills, thus impacting youth self-esteem, social skills and a vision for future opportunities in the performing arts. In 2023 youth ages 7 to 12 years old were invited to join camp. In 2024 we will be expanding that age range to include teens ages 13 to 16 years old.
North Hollywood is a performing arts rich community known for its plethora of theatre arts opportunities, making it the perfect home to develop and foster a youth interest in musical theater, the performing arts in general, as well as the technical skills that support the industry. This initiative continues to support youth performing arts in the North Hollywood (NoHo) area, Council President Krekorian’s continued commitment to foster family programming and theatre arts in NoHo as well as Council District 2 at large. 2024 is the second year of the summer arts camp initiative brining acting, music, dance, and production to the youth of North Hollywood.
