Celebrate the centennial of Pierre Boulez, the unparalleled French composer, conductor, and cultural visionary, with a captivating duo piano recital. Pianists Gloria Cheng and Ralph van Raat pay homage to Boulez’s legacy, performing his solo and duo compositions alongside works by John Cage, Morton Feldman, Frank Zappa, and Magnus Lindberg. The program opens with a heartfelt tribute to the late composer/pianist Sarah Gibson.

Arthur Russell: 24 to 24 Music

GRAMMY-nominated orchestral collective Wild Up presents Arthur Russell’s minimalist disco masterwork 24 to 24 Music as part of the To the Fullest festival. Performed a number of times during Russell’s life, this open-form jam for ensemble, percussion, keyboards, and voices bridges the seeming chasm between the new music community of Downtown New York and the popular dance music of the Loft.

Descanse en Paz: Memorial Paintings from 19th-Century Mexico

This exhibition highlights two popular genres of 19th-century Mexican painting commemorating family members who no longer reside in the household— offering them a lasting presence in the home. The first intimately portrays deceased individuals in likenesses imbued with grief and tender remembrance. The second genre is the uniquely Mexican monja Coronado or “crowned nun” portrait. Images of flowers adorned Brides of Christ were commissioned by the families of women who took Catholic ecclesiastical vows and permanently embarked on cloistered lives.
