EL VELORIO 14 Year Anniversary, The Day of the Dead Music & Arts Festival

El Velorio celebrates the cultural traditions of the Day of the Dead with an art exhibition, live music, an altar installation, and more. El Velorio honors the holiday in a transcendental way, allowing visitors to contemplate different aesthetic developments within the city of Los Angeles.

EVICTION RESPONSE WORKSHOP

This in-person workshop will guide you through the Tenant Power Toolkit, an online resource that helps tenants create an answer (a legal response to their case) that raises the defenses they might have against the eviction. All attendees must bring their Summons and Complaint-Unlawful Detainer to the workshop. Tenants can get one-on-one assistance in both English and Spanish.

FEELING THE SPIRIT OF THE DRUM: DRUM CIRCLE WITH ROBERTO “KONGAKID” GUTIERREZ

Come feel the spirit of the drum and join in the fun with an interactive and spirit-lifting drum circle for all ages led by Roberto “Kongakid” Gutierrez. Connect with your fellow drummers as you learn about West African and Cuban drums, such as the djembe, ashiko, conga, and various percussion instruments. Learn basic patterns to complement your drumming team and share in the “spirit of the groove.”
