The William Grant Still Arts Center, in collaboration with Fall of Freedom and KAOS Network, presents a new film series exploring the power of storytelling, history, and the importance of telling stories from our own perspectives.

The series kicks off with two short films about freedom, truth, legacy, and the stories passed from one generation to the next.

📽️ The Sea
Directed by Son Roberts
Co-Produced & Written by Frank Francis
8 min

This short film features an elusive oracle who, through rage and reflection, incendiary prose and inspirational poetry, reminds us of the legacy of lies that define our human journey. He insists we embrace the redemptive power of truth, from generation to generation, as our only salvation.

📽️ Lani B. Supreme: Legacy
Directed & Produced by Sabaah Folayhan
12 min 38 sec

Trumpeter, composer, educator, and storyteller Lani B. Supreme carries forward a musical legacy rooted in his family’s history. The film explores how music can preserve culture, honor ancestors, and continue a creative tradition across generations.

Following the screenings, Monica Bailey, Film Curator from William Grant Still Arts Center, will facilitate a community discussion. Audience members are invited to share thoughts, questions, and personal connections to the films in an intimate community setting.

Director Sabaah Folayhan will be in attendance to discuss her experience as a filmmaker and the making of Lani B. Supreme: Legacy.
