Beach Movie Nights at Dockweiler
Enjoy family-friendly movie screenings on Friday nights this summer at the Dockweiler Youth Center on the sand, by the waves, and under the stars! Be sure to bring blankets and bundle up. Latin Sounds
Latin Sounds is back! Join us for evenings of live music, picnicking, and community on the LACMA grounds.. These free concerts are presented Saturday evenings from Memorial Day weekend in May to Labor Day weekend in September. Latin Sounds features world-renowned artists performing everything from Indigenous music to the latest sounds from Argentina, Brazil, Cuba, Mexico, Peru, and Los Angeles! Featured artists have included Dori Caymmi, Costazul, Echo Park Project, Mongorama, and Chuchito Valdes. .

Descanse en Paz: Memorial Paintings from 19th-Century Mexico
This exhibition highlights two popular genres of 19th-century Mexican painting commemorating family members who no longer reside in the household— offering them a lasting presence in the home. The first intimately portrays deceased individuals in likenesses imbued with grief and tender remembrance. The second genre is the uniquely Mexican monja Coronado or “crowned nun” portrait. Images of flowers adorned Brides of Christ were commissioned by the families of women who took Catholic ecclesiastical vows and permanently embarked on cloistered lives.
