Sam Francis first traveled to Japan in 1957, developing an affinity for Japanese art and culture that influenced his work. His expressive handling of negative space shared affinities with aspects of East Asian aesthetics, particularly the Japanese concept of “ma,” the dynamic between form and non-form.

There’s nothing more festive than holiday lights throughout the 10-acre Burton Chace Park. The spectacular display of sparkling lights and decor will take place every night throughout December. Winter Glow is an immersive nighttime that will take over Grand Park to celebrate the holidays. As the days shorten and darken, the park will celebrate light as a giver of warmth and beauty.
Enchanted is a one-mile, nighttime walk through distinct lighting displays. Some of the displays are interactive and invite participation, while some are merely there to be observed and enjoyed. Food and beverage options abound at Enchanted. Grab a quick bite, a hot chocolate or an adult beverage within the Enchanted experience.
