In a nearly abandoned Catholic monastery, a man shot through the heart disrupts the lives of a small group of Brothers. “The Travelers” explores brown men seeking connection and heart in California’s Central Valley. In the original voice of the Latinx/Latiné world, Alfaro’s writing breaks through religious dogma, recognizes cultural connections, and offers solace for communal souls.

Robert Mapplethorpe Papers and Photographs Archive

The archive is now available to researchers. The archive spans the artist’s career from his student days at Pratt Institute in the 1960s through his more well-known photographs from the 1980s. The archive includes sculpture and assemblages, collages, cut-outs, early drawings and paintings, Polaroids, and examples of large-format photographic prints of flowers, portraits, nudes, and sadomasochistic subjects.
