Community Band with Logan Hone is held outside in Hermon Park most Saturday, as a series of creative musical sessions and concerts. Musicians of all skill levels, ages, & backgrounds are invited to join the band in learning an eclectic mix of music, including jazz, Latin, folk, & original material. Participation is free. Bring your instrument, water, and snacks. Percussion instruments are provided.

LA MADE PRESENTS: CHINESE CALLIGRAPHY WITH EMMY LAM
Through two brief stories, attendees learn to read 22 basic Chinese characters. Then, they learn to write those characters with proper stroke order. This family program is suitable for almost all ages. All materials provided. The maximum number of participants is 25. Note: Children must already know how to hold a pencil/pen and print.
LA Made Presents: Guzheng and Vocal Performance: An Exploration of Asian American Music
The audience will journey through a performance of the ancient Chinese guzheng and vocals sung in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin. Alongside the performance, the history of the guzheng and its contemporary utilizations are explored. The audience will experience the guzheng’s dynamic sounds and voice and learn the guzheng’s history through traditional, modern, and extended playing techniques. LA Made: Japanese Taiko Drumming
This program introduces audiences of all ages to Japanese taiko drumming in three ways: Performances of traditional and contemporary repertoire. Presentations on the history and cultural significance of taiko drums. An interactive element where audience members learn taiko rhythms and play them on the drums.
STORRIER STEARNS JAPANESE GARDEN
This Japanese garden features a light hill-scape, pond, cascading 25-foot waterfall, and a formal teahouse designed by Kinzuchi Fujii. The garden is considered by many to be a masterwork, and it demonstrates the adaptability of Japanese culture in modern America. Register in advance at the website.
