Groove: Artists and Intaglio Prints, 1500 to Now
This exhibition surveys over five hundred years of intaglio prints drawn from the extensive collections of the UCLA Grunwald Center for the Graphic Arts at the Hammer Museum. The intaglio medium comprises engravings, etchings, dry point, aquatint, and mezzotint, all of which involve the use of a copper or zinc plate that is incised, inked, and printed. Art Iran: Falling Into Language
The exhibition presents nine diaspora Iranian artists who engage diverse forms of the Persian alphabet, handwriting, text, and fragments to remain connected to their cultural inheritance and form an essential part of their artistic practice. Using Persian script in painting, geometric patterning, and installation, the artists maintain a solid relationship to the Persian language as a visual and symbolic component to longing for a homeland and unity beyond borders.
