Join us for an afternoon of science and art!

First, the MMCC Education Team will teach a science lesson. Then, Artist-Teacher Daniel Porras will lead us in a pastel painting workshop where we will painting your favorite marine mammal in a California seascape!

Wishing them well and a speedy recovery, we will be painting a marine mammal in their life after the Marine Mammal Care Center. We will be learning about the different shapes that make up these animals and learn to draw them in easy to follow steps. The painting will be made upon a small canvas and we will give it a hazy, fuzzy and atmospheric background using soft pastels and blending sponges. As for the foreground we will use stencils, chalk pastels, acrylic paint and small brushes for details such as whiskers.
