Join us in the gallery at Angels Gate Cultural Center (AGCC) for a Closing Reception and Artist Talk for Seven Visions X Seven Artists on Saturday, February 24th. The public will have a final opportunity to see the work in-person and ask questions in a conversation with the curator and artists.

Drumming in the Park

Raymond Lewis and the Ase Ashe Drummers will be performing at the General Jeff Park. Drumming events build community connections. Cultural exchange drives individuals to feel a sense of belonging and a connection with themselves. AAPI LATINX: HIDDEN INTERNMENT: THE ART SHIBAYAMA STORY

Join us for a film screening of Hidden Internment: The Art Shibayama Story, a film about the lesser-known history of the Japanese-Latin American internment through the life story of Art Shibayama, who, at 13, was taken from Peru on March 22, 1944, and interned in Crystal City Texas for two years. Despite this internment, Art was denied redress equal to that provided to Japanese Americans. $10, RSVP at website

Beethoven’s Fidelio with Dudamel and Deaf West Theatre

Dudamel conducts, in collaboration with the Deaf West Theatre, an innovative production of Beethoven’s Fidelio, created for both deaf and hearing audiences. A story told through the composer’s music sung by hearing vocalists accompanied by the expressive gestural poetry of sign language by deaf actors.
