LA muralist Sergio Robleto’s “Champions of Adversity” has been selected for the Spring Street Bridge Mural at Albion Riverside Park! The new mural commissioned by the Department of Cultural Affairs will include notable figures and symbolism from Lincoln Heights. DCA invited 3 artists from it’s 2020 Muralist Roster to submit a proposal for this project. “Champions of Adversity” was unanimously selected out of 3 proposals by a third-party panel composed of Lincoln Heights community members, Bureau of Engineering staff, and Recreation and Park staff.
Robleto has reached out to locals and historians and anticipates that the design may evolve with community input. DCA will be presenting the design at the March Cultural Affairs Commission meeting with an anticipated installation in late-Spring or early-Summer. This is a digital rendering and the final mural installation will reveal the artist’s unique style.
This project is funded by the City of Los Angeles Dept. of Cultural Affairs Public Works Improvements Arts Program and is managed by the Department’s Mural Program.
