McGroarty Arts Center

McGroarty Arts Center provides access to the arts through in-depth arts instruction and experiences. Affordable or free multidisciplinary arts instruction is offered to at-risk youth, children, and families, as are performances, exhibitions and events that engage the greater public. The Center is a venue for artists to present their work, while preserving the legacy of John Steven McGroarty and his historic home.

Since 1995, McGroarty Arts Center has been operated by a non-profit organization (known as Friends of the McGroarty Arts Center), in partnership with the Department of Cultural Affairs, City of Los Angeles.

Summer Class Registration

Plein Air Painting 

Wednesdays: 9:00 to 11:30 a.m.

Spend the early days of summer capturing the natural beauty of out expansive grounds. Paint in the medium of your choice in this outdoor class led by teaching artists Kevin McCants. 

Tai Chi with a View 

Thursdays: 9:00 to 10:00 a.m.

End date: July 2, 2026

Learn the practice of Tai-chi Chuan, a martial art with a unique system of exercises developed hundreds of years ago in China by Taoist monks.
