Venezuelan artist Alexander Apóstol, known for photographs, videos, and installations exploring the entanglement of art and political power, presents Regime: Dramatis Personae at MOCA. The 2018 series of black-and-white portraits depicts archetypal figures appearing on the stage of populist and authoritarian regimes. The work builds on Apóstol's broader focus on Latin American geometric abstraction as a lens for interrogating the ideological foundations of modernism.
