This exhibition marks the first solo presentation in the United States of artist Antonio Romero, whose work is held in the collections of MOLAA and the Museo Reina Sofía in Spain. Through his series, Tropicalia, Romero examines the tropical landscape as a constructed and often commodified image rather than an innocent postcard scene. The paintings explore the tension between representation and artifice, using scale, interrupted horizons, and structural violence.
