Come to a celebration of words and check out the festival’s Big Read activity. Explore themes of
intergenerational connections, memory, and aging, with a local artist who will lead a hands-on art
workshop.

Celebrating Words: Written, Performed & Sung is the only annual literacy and arts festival in the
San Fernando Valley. The festival offers a variety of author readings, musical presentations, and
free cultural arts workshops.

The mission of Tia Chucha’s Centro Cultural and Bookstore is to transform communities in the
Northeast San Fernando Valley and beyond through ancestral knowledge, the arts, literacy and
creative engagement.

We Live in Painting: The Nature of Color in Mesoamerican Art

Mesoamerican artists held a cosmic responsibility: as they adorned the surfaces of buildings, clay vessels, textiles, bark-paper pages, and sculptures with color, they (quite literally) made the world. Color mapped the very order of the cosmos, of time and space. The exhibition explores the science, art, and cosmology of color in Mesoamerica. See website for ticket prices and registration.

On the National Language: The Poetry of America’s Endangered Tongues

This exhibition showcases forty-seven portraits of speakers and students of endangered languages living in the United States.
