We will have a special guest Emmy Lam to demonstrate and teach everyone Chinese calligraphy, the traditional art of Chinese writing. Everyone will have a chance to learn how to write Chinese characters.

We Live in Painting: The Nature of Color in Mesoamerican Art
Mesoamerican artists held a cosmic responsibility: as they adorned the surfaces of buildings, clay vessels, textiles, bark-paper pages, and sculptures with color, they (quite literally) made the world. Color mapped the very order of the cosmos, of time and space. The exhibition explores the science, art, and cosmology of color in Mesoamerica. See website for ticket prices and registration.

The Los Angeles River Farmers’ Market
The Los Angeles River Farmers’ Market is also a community meeting place with a wide range of activities and offerings, including live music, activities for children, and a rich and varied offering of artisans selling their handmade arts and crafts.
