The Japanese American National War Memorial Court is the only place in the world displaying all the names of U.S. military service members of Japanese ancestry who died in service to our country.
The Japanese American National War Memorial Court is the only place in the world displaying all the names of U.S. military service members of Japanese ancestry who died in service to our country. Names are etched on the granite walls of the Japanese American National War Memorial Court. The first of these were seven Japanese immigrants who died serving on the USS Maine in 1898. Almost 1200 Japanese Americans have given their lives in over a century of service to America.

SUN WING WO GENERAL STORE AND HERB SHOP

This exhibition recreates a store located in the Garnier Building during the 1890s; the Sun Wing Wo store was open from 1891 to 1948. The store was a multi-purpose space that showcased Chinese self-sufficiency. Although the store primarily served the Chinese, people from every segment of society also came to purchase Chinese merchandise.
