A public reading of new works by the HIV Writers Workshop.

Join us for a dynamic presentation of storytelling and memoir as these vibrant writers share their stirring tales. Get ready to laugh and cry as you let their eloquence touch your heart. Inspiration and celebration awaits. The event is free with refreshments and validated parking.

This event celebratez life, survivorship and HIV/AIDS history. The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence will be fulfilling the tradition of The Reading of The Names to honor the lives of the past mmebers of the workshop who have died from AIDS and AIDS related causes. The HIV Writers Workshop has been ongoing for twenty five years..Join us for food, fun and fellowship. Celebrate survivorship and the power of personal identity.  During our political climate we must continue to gather and let our voices be heard. We are powerful together. HIV & AIDS services funding has been cut drasticly by the Trump administration here and around the world. We will not be silent. That’s what the fascist and autocrat wants from us. We must continue to gather and make our communities stronger than ever.

Our Bodies Are Memories of Our Bodies: Siapo ma Solo

siapo—indigenous Samoan barkcloth abstraction—and solo—poetry in the Samoan genre and worldview, here composed in English—by Fa’afafine, non-binary Samoan artist Dan Taulapapa McMullin. Printed on cloth with ink painting, these works embody the fa’asamoa understanding that the body itself is an archive, carrying ancestral and personal memory through the mana of social and environmental relationships.
