Join AGCC’s artist talk with Ben Cuevas & Jynx Prado, as they intertwine materiality & identity through diverse narratives. Join us via Zoom on Sep 26, 6:30 pm PT.

Angels Gate Cultural Center (AGCC) presents an engaging artist talk featuring Ben Cuevas and Jynx Prado, two visionary artists whose works converge at the intersection of fiber and performance art. With a shared mission to challenge boundaries and reimagine conventional norms, Cuevas and Prado invite audiences to delve into their diverse narratives. Cuevas, drawing inspiration from their queer, non-binary, HIV-positive, Latinx identity, seamlessly merges textiles, photography, sculpture, installation, and performance, resulting in art that reclaims spaces and voices silenced by history. Prado’s sculptures, composed of mixed fibers and found furniture, embrace gender fluidity and confront societal preconceptions, seamlessly intertwining humor, history, and symbolism. Both artists bridge the past and present, using their work to foster a new era of intersectional queer culture while inviting viewers to embrace the warmth of human connection.

Join us for an illuminating edition of Studio Soup, Angels Gate Cultural Center’s quarterly series of candid conversations about the artistic process. This session offers a closer look at how artists move from an original impulse to finished pieces, bridging the gap between inspiration and realization. Join the conversation with artists Ben Cuevas and Jynx Prado as they share insights into their work and practices. This insightful dialogue will take place on Tuesday, September 26th, from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm PT. Don’t miss the opportunity to learn about their creative journeys and engage in a discussion by asking your questions. Mark your calendar and virtually join us on Zoom for an evening of artistic exploration and discovery.
