Benita Bikes DanceArt kicks off its 43rd year of dance performance with a unique event at Los Angeles Mission Colleges beautiful AMP Theatre on Thursday, November 9, 7:00 pm. This program is FREE and is supported by LA Mission Colleges AGS Honor Society, its Department of Arts, Media & Performance, and the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs. Join members of the community, students and faculty for this unique dance event, where youll enjoy beautiful dancing and learn more about dance. The November 9th performance features: Griot Songs, “Aspects of Me,” and “For Rose.” |

Watts Willowbrook Farmers’ Market, in collaboration with the MLK Outpatient Center, opened in November 2023. The market will serve a diverse customer base and continue to grow in both attendance and reputation as a market that is outstanding in the quality of the fresh food that is offered weekly. JAPANESE GARDEN AT DESCANSO GARDENS
Explore this tranquil Japanese-style garden that blends design elements from four classic garden styles. Cross an arched bridge and walk on shaded paths along a koi-filled stream to the teahouse. Amid the San Fernando Valley lies an oasis – a 6.5-acre garden featuring three gardens in one. First, the Japanese Garden has a dry Zen meditation garden containing Tortoise Island, a three-buddha arrangement of stones, and a wisteria arbor at the end of the Plover Path. Next along the path is an expansive Chisen or “wet-strolling” garden with waterfalls, lakes and streams, abundant greenery, and stone lanterns, which were hand-carved by artisans in Japan.
