LA Made Presents: Temple Dance of South India
Presentation of South Indian classical dances, also called Temple Dances. The program will begin with an introduction to Indian art, a display of Indian dance props (like jewelry, etc.), and a presentation of Temple dances of South India. Bharatanatyam (pronounced bha-ra-tha-naat-yum) is the 2000-year art form that boasts of highly stylized dance movements, facial expressions, intrinsic rhythms, and mesmerizing stories based on Hindu epics, highlighting human emotions of love, emotion, and justice.
Armenian Dance With Tom Bozigian
Please join us for a series of free Armenian dance workshops with the internationally recognized dance instructor Tom Bozigian. Limit to 100 people—first come, first served. No dance experience or a partner is required.
BREAD MAKING
Join Chef Phoebe Chow as she discusses the applied science of breadmaking and demonstrates how to make a pineapple bun with a crunchy crust. Samples will be provided. This class is for ages 5–12.
STORRIER STEARNS JAPANESE GARDEN
This Japanese garden features a light hill-scape, pond, cascading 25-foot waterfall, and a formal teahouse designed by Kinzuchi Fujii. The garden is considered by many to be a masterwork, and it demonstrates the adaptability of Japanese culture in modern America. Register in advance at the website.
