Taxco Theatre was acquired for the Department of Cultural Affairs with the support and leadership of Councilmember Bob Blumenfield in 2019. On February 26, 2024, the Taxco Theatre reopened following a $1.4 million renovation that transforming this neighborhood mainstay into the only publicly-owned facility providing opportunities for local artists, nonprofit organizations, community organizations, and performing arts students to develop and produce new work. The Taxco Theatre’s vision is to provide an innovative space to bring music, dance, and theater productions to life.
