Get ready for Plant Day at the Central Library on March 2, 2024—a family-friendly event celebrating all things plants!  Plant enthusiasts of all ages are invited to experience the joy of connecting with nature in this free event starting at 10:00am.! Our day sprouts to life with energizing keynote speeches by Jeanette Marantos from the LA Times Plants Newsletter and the green gurus of the Dodger Landscaping crew.  Here is the ink to the Plant Day webpage. AAPI LATINX: HIDDEN INTERNMENT: THE ART SHIBAYAMA STORY

Join us for a film screening of Hidden Internment: The Art Shibayama Story, a film about the lesser-known history of the Japanese-Latin American internment through the life story of Art Shibayama, who, at 13, was taken from Peru on March 22, 1944, and interned in Crystal City Texas for two years. Beethoven’s Fidelio with Dudamel and Deaf West Theatre

Dudamel conducts, in collaboration with the Deaf West Theatre, an innovative production of Beethoven’s Fidelio, created for both deaf and hearing audiences. A story told through the composer’s music sung by hearing vocalists accompanied by the expressive gestural poetry of sign language by deaf actors.
